Post-it Posting!

I used Post-It correction tape to mask off the glossy cardstock on this card. Have a happy Saturday!

Friends Reflection

Adding a card that I made with a set from the Winter mini...I hope that this set makes the "big book." Have a super night!

Sunday, March 18, 2007

Whoops...did I neglect my blog for a couple of days? Yes! I did! It was a busy week and this week looks just as crazy. When will the taxes get done? Wellllll.....

Here's the card from my workshop on Thursday. It is simple and elegant. It uses a white crayon to highlight portions of the image and then I sponged over it with the SU sponge daubers. Thanks for taking a peek!

What a workshop!

Wow! Did I have fun last night! My hostess had a super turnout!!! Way to go, Amber!!! Here's the card for the make and take...I found the original by Debbie Tompkins and CASED it. (CASE is Copy and Share Everything). Thank you Debbie and thank you, Amber for a super turnout!

The card used the three elements of the Spring Mini Bundle...the double-sided Petals paper, the Petals Jumbo wheel and the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set. I love these three items.

Feb. Contest Entries

I can share some of my February contest entries as the winners were posted today on the SU website and I didn't win. But, maybe, I'll make the Stamper's Showcase!!!! This one was for the Absolutely Alphabet entry. I really liked how it turned out.

Today is the big fundraiser day at church/school. I'll be there until at least 5:00 pm. We also forgot to set the clocks for DST!!! Thankfully, we woke up at 6:15 or so and when I checked the DISH network clock and it didn't agree with our clock, we got up quickly! Not a good day to be an hour late!!!

Happy day!

I'm booked!

I've booked my flight to Denver to attend the SU convention...now to get into the right session when registration opens. My most awesome upline, Lisa S., has spoiled me by finding a SUPER deal on a hotel just a couple of blocks from the Convention center. I had to book my flight this morning. I was all set last night to book today anyway out of Fargo when low and behold, the flight that I had wanted last night was gone and all flights on that day from Fargo had gone up $60!!! The ones from GF were the same so even though the time is less convenient, I've saved on the cost.

Today was the final school day of Lutheran schools week. It was alumni day. We had a really good attendance from the high school students who had attended our elementary school. It was fun to look around and see how they've grown up and become respectible young adults.

Here's the name frame that I made to hang in my classroom. I had fun working on that one! It uses the Recollections paper from the Idea Book.

Thanks for looking!

It's Lutheran schools week and I am tired...imagine how my students must feel? Today was dress crazy day and Game day...we played games ALL day! The PTL served pizza (oh me? I had one piece...just the topping and a tiny bit of crust...the life of a gastric bypass patient!) It was fun but I'm looking forward to a regular week next week...other than correcting papers!

Here's another that I had featured on Stamper's Showcase. It uses a set from the Winter mini called Big Pieces and Little Pieces from the main catalog! Thanks for looking!

All Natural

I like this card that I'm sharing with you. It was also chosen for Stamper's Showcase. It uses the All Natural set and is colored/painted with the Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I tell you, I LOVE those things!!! Have a good night!

Google Reader Review and last tryout project

First of all, I just finished going through my Google Reader updates. Boy, did I save time....other than the fact that I found a wonderful tutorial through Amy Rysavy's blog! The tutorials are on Nth Degree at Creative Express. Back to topic...when I opened my account, there were 13 new updates to blogs, including my test one from yesterday. I posted that at about 8:00 pm last night. I checked immediately and it wasn't at google yet but was this morning.

The reader lists all of the sites that have updates. Click on the header of each, and you'll go to the actual post. This is important because not all in the google list show the pics with the posts so if you want to see the picture of the project posted, it's important to click.

I only went to 13 sites today instead of the 67 I have on my favorites. This will also be handy when I am away from home and I don't have my favorites list!!!

Here's the last project that I submitted for the convention display boards. I wasn't that excited about this one. The only pictures I had around were ones of Daphne. Had I had a cute little kid, this may have been a little more appealing!

Google Reader

Upon reading my MANY blogs today, I read a post by Sarah Vrolyk, infamous stamper. She took all of her stamping blogs and added them to Google Reader. I did the same and this is a test to see if I did it right...wish me luck.

BTW, Google Reader is a service that you add all of your blogs and when a new posting is up on any of them, it tells you!!! Too cool! Should save me a little time since I've become such a blog junkie!

Super Saturday

Okay, I'm continuing what has now become a four day weekend, thanks to two snow days. Next week is Lutheran Schools week at school so it'll be a busy one. Here's the last card from my convention display tryout. I have one more to share from that group. This one used the new Polka Dots & Paisley from the Spring mini catty. Have a great day!

SNOW DAY #2!!!

There won't be a snow day #3, though....tomorrow is Saturday. Maybe I can sort receipts for taxes today.....YUCK! But, I've been given the gift of time by having the day off.

This is another card I made for my convention tryout. I liked this one a lot! Thanks for looking!

Snow Day!!!

Well, for those of you who have children and are not teachers, these words probably don't ring beautiful sounds in your ears...but...I don't have children and I am a teacher so SNOW DAY is a wonderful phrase! I am planning on accomplishing a lot but will add another convention display try out card to share. Thanks for looking! Happy Snow Day!!!!!

So...

I should stop complaining. The card that I shared the last time was on Stamper's Showcase today!!! Hurray!!!

Today, we were supposed to find out if we were accepted as display stampers for the SU convention. I have no email in my inbox from SU so I am assuming that I was not chosen. But, at least I tried and you can't make it if you don't try! The picture from today's post is my 8 1/2 by 11 scrap page for the tryout. I used a transparency sheet and stamped the Big Pieces set on it with White Staz on. I loved how that turned out..mostly because the colored circles on the background turned out so well! Thanks for looking!

I'm going to give a try at blogging again. My goal is to add a new post once per week. I'm hoping to share some cards that I've made with my SU customers and have a place to share when and where I'm having a class or stamp a stack.

I am planning a SAS (stamp a stack) for the end of March. I need to decide when (hoping for Thursday, March 29) and where...that's a bigger challenge!

The card at the right was one I sent in for a SU contest. It didn't win and though (brag alert...) I've had 6 of that set of contest cards posted on Stamper's Showcase, this one, my favorite, hasn't been picked. I needed to share it!

Thanks for looking!

Sunday

Well, it's been a productive and HOT day here in my land! I woke up a little early and after a bit of breakfast took my little dog for a 35-40 minute walk. It was HUMID to say the least. Thank goodness for good songs on my MP3 player otherwise, I wouldn't have been as motivated.

I went to church and received a few compliments on my weight loss. I have lost 99 pounds since December 21st...the day of my gastric bypass surgery. I lost about 20 pounds before that (and since my dh had gastric surgery last June...he's lost over 150 pounds!!!!) Can I say, we look terrific...I know because I was inspired to look at my before pictures...

I was a size 28 before. I purchased size 16 capris a week or two ago...Yikes! Felt so GOOD to shop in a "regular" size clothes shop. That was actually kind of scary...I've not shopped at places other than Lane Bryant and Catherines (excellent plus size shops!) since before college in 1989!!! Yikes! I still remember looking through JCPenneys once when home college...and not finding anything to fit. They had an ok plus size department then...

I weighed 303 pounds on the day of my dh's surgery. I weighed 283 on the day of my surgery. I now weighed in this morning at 184!!!!!!!!!!! Okay...a few more exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted yesterday that I was organizing my stampin area. All done...now, I need the motivation to create...I know it's just an excuse to be messy but my new theory may be that I need mess to be creative.. I can only create in chaos...Ah, the true lazy side of me is coming out. You see, if I don't have to clean and can use creativity as an excuse...how beautiful is that?

Off to check out some stampin blogs...

Super Saturday

No big plans here. I cleaned (which has now become a Saturday morning ritual...) the basics. Since school got out, I've tried to clean on other days...it just doesn't work for me. I need a routine and a plan.

Now, I'm off to organize. (Yes, organize is different than cleaning in my book.) I've been going through all of my stamping junk and if I haven't used it or if I can't use it at a SU workshop, I parting with it...okay, lots of it. It just needs to be done. Do I have more space? O yes! It's wonderful to look and see that a shelf doesn't have to be crammed full.

When the space is done, I'm hoping to have a creative spewing type of happening. Like, I'm so creative it just spews out of me...

Day Two...last in a series

Okay, so I won't title each day by number...

Today was good! We drove up to Red Lake Falls, MN (if you have even heard of this little gem of a town, God bless you!) and walked the beautiful trail that this city has! It's gorgeous. Completely tree-lined. Daphne, our little beagle, sniffed the entire time, always finding something new. We walked for about 50 minutes out and decided it was time to turn around. We saw a rather large snapping turtle. My dh quickly pulled me away from it when I hadn't noticed it...I guess that they are mean little buggers!

When we returned to the parking/camping area, we found a family at a campsite with a little beagle of their own. Her name was Maggie and she was two...reminded us of what Daphne was like back then (okay...Daph will be four this Sept...) Maggie was definitely more "puppy" like and tried to engage our exhausted dog into a little bit of playtime. Daph wouldn't have any of it...she was ready to nap in the car and head home to her "big dog" Annie.

Organized my stampin area a bit yesterday and today...feels good to have some space in there! Oh, I'll bet the creativity will just bound out of me now that it's a bit cleaner. I have a few little areas that have gathered "crap" that I need to go through but it's on the right track.

Day One

This is day one of my own blog. I have looked at other stampers' sites and thought that it would be cool to try.

I will post about Stampin Up, rubber stamping, weight loss surgery (gastric bypass) and daily ramblings.

First...it's been 7 months since my gastric bypass surgery. I've officially lost 98 pounds. Last Wednesday, I went shopping and bought clothes in a "regular" store.

Now, I'm off to figure out my mp3 player.
