Blogger's Challenge #79: Celebration!

I took full advantage of my Christmas vacation and spent time with my husband and didn't take time to stamp...

But, I finally completed the challenge for this week today!

Our challenge was Celebrations. I have been playing with the Love You Much bundle so that's the inspiration for this card! My dh will be seeing the finished project when we celebrate Valentine's Day!

On the inside, I finally tried the spiral pop-up card that we saw at convention this year! With the punch that comes with this bundle, it's easy to make lots of little hearts to add to the spiral springs!

I handwrote the "so very" and stamped the "much" from the Love You Much set. The envelope on the front of the card was made using the scallop envelope die and the Big Shot. With some ribbon and lots of embossing, the card was complete!

I'm off to exercise and then later today, I'll be checking out what the other BC members are celebrating...I hope you will, too!

Merry Christmas!

Here's a super short poem I wrote this year. I pray that all of you have a wonderful Christmas!

Deck the halls,
Sing the songs,
But Christmas without Jesus
Is all wrong!

Blogger's Challenge #78: Christmas, Non-traditional colors

My inspiration color was Really Rust. Today at school, the staff receieved some chocolate wrapped in a gorgeous ribbon in Really Rust! The second inspiration was a Christmas card that Mary Kay, Inc. The result is this card!

I punched the two squares using two different sized square punches in the card front and the top layer. I "stitched" around the outside frame and added the ribbon. With the Versamark pad, I added the snowflakes.

I added the snowflake on the inside using the Versamark and White Embossing powder! Love the white on the rust look!

Thanks for looking and see what other non-traditional colors come up!!!

Color Inspiration #35

I'm running super close to the deadline. I wasn't going to post but words from a dear friend (thanks, L.H.) and I made some time to post! Thank you!!!

Love to use an alphabet stamp to really send a "bigger" message to the recipient! This time, I chose the Contempo alpha! One of my favorite purchases!

I'll have another post tomorrow with the Blogger's Challenge so be sure to check it out!

From our Local Radio Station's Website

Well, we are in the middle of a full-blown BLIZZARD!!! We've had snowstorms (of course, I live in MN!) as of late but this is a real BLIZZARD!

For the first time since I've been married to the pastor, we had to cancel services! But as the article below and the picture explains, that wouldn't stop my husband from preaching the gospel! Thanks to www.kroxam.com for the article and the picture. For those who live locally, it's a fantastic website!

Pastor Bohler getting ready for his service in the KROX studios

BLIZZARD ALI CAN'T STOP PASTOR STEVE BOHLER FROM CONDUCTING HIS SERVICE

Blizzard Ali forced the cancellation of most of the church services in the Crookston area, but it did not stop Pastor Steve Bohler of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Crookston from conducting service. There was a twist to the service as Pastor Bohler did it live from the KROX Radio Studios. Our Saviors Lutheran Church normally broadcasts their 8:00 a.m. service live on KROX Radio, because the church cancelled their Sunday morning services to keep the parishioners safe at home, Pastor Bohler came to the KROX studios to conduct the 8:00 a.m. service live on the air.

Blogger's Challenge #77: Christmas Decorations!

Our challenge this week was to create a Christmas decoration or ornament. Since I've discovered how fun and rewarding "stamping" on candles is, I thought I would share this one!

You need: tissue paper, stamps (of course!) ink, a a heat tool and some wax paper to make this fabulous decoration (which mine will be a gift!)

Stamp image as you want it to appear on your candle. Trim closely around it. Dab a little Glue Stick on the back and put it on your candle. Wrap with wax paper and hold tightly while you heat the tissue and it melts into your candle. Repeat as many times as you want your images to be on your candle. That's it!

Thanks for looking and be sure to see what the other Blogger's Challenge members dreamt up! You WON'T be disappointed!!!

Color Inspiration #34

OH! Did I LOVE these colors? YES! I am so thankful for these challenges as I would have never put these together but don't they work so well?

This was my second attempt at the challenge. I had made a different card last night but when I finished, I knew that although it wasn't bad, I hadn't gotten it quite right, yet! I kept the basic layout and dropped a lot of ribbon and came up with this one. (I'll share the first idea on another day.) I was able to use two new hostess sets that will be in the upcoming Spring/Summer Idea Book and Catalog! The pattern on the cardstock was stamped with Versamark using a stamp from the set named, Rustic Rooster. This is a REALLY cool set! The sentiment comes from Goody Goody Gumdrops! Super cute set, too!

Blogger's Challenge #76: Color Inspiration!

OH! Lisa had some FUN colors for us this week! I just loved them. I had yet to use my Simple Birthday Thanks stamp (which is a large background single stamp that I made into two stamps.) I stamped it on Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Tangerine Tango. Then, I cut and pasted the separate pieces on a fourth image stamped onto Whisper White. The "confetti" was made with my 1/4" circle punch. I stamped the Sanded background the Bashful Blue bottom of the cupcake. The Wide Oval punch was used for the sentiment and the Tangerine accent. I added Kiwi Kiss striped ribbbon and the final touch...Crystal Effects on all of the pretties, even the Tangerine Tango "cherry!"

Be sure to see what my fellow challenge players were up to! I'm sure that you will NOT be disappointed!

Color Inspiration #33

This week's color inspiration includes some really fun colors! Taken with Teal was a color I used on EVERY card but have forgotten about it lately! Check out the other creations at Kristina's site.

I began with Chocolate and White Rub-ons from the Hidden Garden set. These images really create motion so after layering, I used another image with motion from the Bursting with Joy set. This set is not included in the current Stampin' Up Catalog but is available for sale on the dormant list.

After putting a couple of layers of ribbon on and some paper piercing around the main image, my card was complete! Thanks for stopping by!

Blogger's Challenge #75: Inspiration!

ABSOLUTELY loved this challenge! I usually do love the inspiration challenges! The picture above was the wonderful image Lisa chose for us this time...couldn't you curl right up in that?

I chose to use the Bella Toile background stamp. I stamped it on Very Vanilla Cardstock, twice, in the same place. Then trimmed the inside piece evenly all around so the image would line up after I layered!

I added the ribbon and the Birthday sentiment and won't this make a wonderful card for Steve's Grandma's birthday in December? Thanks for looking and go and see what the other BC members did with this inspiration piece!

Color Inspiration #32

For Kristina's Color Inspiration #32, I chose a Christmas theme. The colors were Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red and a Metallic (or Sahara Sand...but my Brushed Silver was crying for attention so I gave it some!)

I began with using my Staz-On white to stamp the snowflakes all over the background. I had to tip the picture to capture this look.

Then, I embossed Silver onto the Brushed Silver. I love this layered, textured look. Then, I used every color to layer the card. The final touch was adding the Riding Hood Ribbon and the Season's Greetings sentiment. All of the stamps are from the Snow Swirled stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Hope you had a GREAT Thanksgiving! We sure did!

Blogger's Challenge #74: Giving Thanks

Our challenge was to give thanks this week for the Blogger's Challenge. I have seen many cards done with this style and hope I have found my own version of it. First, punch a circle out of a post-it and adhere it to the top of glossy cardstock. You can either use a brayer or like I did, use sponges to add your background sunset. I went with Earth Elements colors: Summer Sun, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, and Really Rust. Remove the post-it and stamp as you wish.

The grass silhouette stamp is from Inspired by Nature and the Thank you phrase from Upsy Daisy. I smeared my saying when I stamped it directly onto the glossy cardstock. So, a little un planned touch of an oval punch was added...I liked it! I finished it off with some More Mustard ribbon.

Thanks for looking and see what the other girls are doing for their "thankful" cards this week!
