Blogger's Challenge #88: Alter it!

This was truly a challenge for me. When it comes to altering items, I CASE (copy and share everything) better than come up with my own project. But, I examined my items to be altered and found my 5 X 5 On Board Art Journal completely unchanged after way too long, I decided that it was about time!

I began by choosing my DSP (Designer Series Paper). I chose the Hand Drawn DSP from the Hand Drawn Bundle Level 3 Hostess set. What a great combo! I've tried the stamps, now the paper and next will be the Rub-ons!

I first thought about making a little birthday book but then thinking of a couple of pregnant women that I know are expecting little boys, I used them for my inspiration and went with more "boy" colors. I also got the Big Shot out and played with one of my favorite new items in the Spring Summer Catalog: TEXTURZ PLATES!!!

Be sure to see what the other players in this challenge are up to and please, play along, too!!! I'd love to see what you can alter and maybe you'll inspire me for my next project! (You can click on the Blogger's Challenge link on the side panel to see the other player's blogs!) Happy Friday!

Project Recipe:
Stamp sets: Just B, Nursery Necessities
DSP: Hand Drawn Bundle
Cardstock/Ink colors: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Basic Gray and Baja Breeze Classic colors; Old Olive and Whisper White Craft Ink Pads
Other: White and Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Glue Stick, Spiral Punch, Hobby Blade, Paper Snips

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch #58

I'm so excited to be playing in Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge again this week! I had to hurry last night and set a record and made this card in 15 minutes...with the help of Stampin' Up's Rub-ons!!! At my class on Saturday, I discovered that I had one card with one tiny rub-on on it! I needed to make a card using Rub-ons and honestly, I usually end up hoarding the rub-ons until they retire and then they never see the light of day! I fixed both of those problems with this one card! I didn't "stamp" one thing! (I did use ink pads to highlight the edges.)
The sketch was a goody again! I snuck in the Full Heart punch! It was perfect for the heart rub-ons!

Be sure to click on this link and see what the other players came up with...you are guaranteed to not be disappointed!!! Thanks for letting me play again, Mary Jo!

Blogger's Challenge #86: Inspiration Challenge

I was inspired by this challenge! I was literally NOT even thinking about blogger's challenge when the idea for this card came...that's the best feeling! I know that there will still be weeks of struggle (that's why we need challenges) but this one was a delight!

I began with the Big Shot and the NEW Stampin' Up Texturz plates!!! I chose the damask (which is a Stampin' Up exclusive!) I used Ruby Red cardstock and after embossing, I used the Ruby Red ink pad to darken the impressions. Then, used my gold ink over that. I stamped the flower from the Botancial Blooms set...it's a Sale-a-Bration set that I earned for free! (Yep, even demos get SAB benefits!) I simply stamped the outline images with my Black Staz-On pad and then the inner flower with Ruby Red and Always Artichoke ink. I finished off with some Always Artichoke ribbon, stampin' dimensionals and ta da!

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out the other BC members' blogs!

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch #57

I was able to play in Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch again this week thanks to President's Day and that there isn't any school today! So...there are a few cherries on this card....didn't even plan that!!! I just wanted to break open my new DSP Rockabilly Specialty Paper! The skulls are not my thing but I LOVE the cherries and the color combo and the GLOSSY accents on one side of each page!

I also used the new Stampin' Up! Exclusive Sizzlits 4-pack dies called Lots of Tags. This one layers perfectly with the Large Oval Punch. I am LOVING my Big Shot!

I didn't have a purpose for the card so I thought that Heartfelt Wishes could be great for a birthday or anniversary. That sentiment is from Always in My Thoughts stamp set.

Please click here to go to Mary Jo's Technostamper blog and at the end of that post, you'll see the links to the others who are playing in this challenge! Happy Monday and Happy President's Day!!!

Blogger's Challenge #86: Valentine's Day!

"Valen-times" as my dh and I like to say after seeing that on some tv show. I don't have a traditional Valentine's project but it's one that fits my Valentine!

I've mentioned before that Steve wants to be a cowboy or at least dress like one and see every western movie ever made. Well, I used a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit called Round-Up to come up with a little cowboy treat for the cowboy in my life.

Squash books have been around for a little while but this is the first one that I have ever made. I completed it from beginning to end in just a couple of hours (which was easy because of the Simply Scrappin' Kit...must get more of these in my hot little hands and I'll be a GREAT scrapbooker yet!) Putting the whole idea together is fairly easy! I'd be happy to have a workshop or class with you and your friends and show you how to make one!

I tried to get a picture of each element of this book so I hope you can see. I have included one picture of Steve before I met him....where did all of that gray in his beard come from? He blames me!

Thanks for looking and I'm sure you'll see some more traditional ideas of Valentine's by checking out the blogs of the other Blogger's Challenge members!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!!

Challenge happy....

I haven't posted this much EVER! I am definitely challenge-happy, meaning I've been participating in lots of challenges lately. I've got a busy Feb. and Mar. thanks to Sale-a-bration so I'm stamping lots instead of other activities!

This time the challenge from Papertrey was to create a card for a best friend! When I think of a best friend, I think that they are One of a Kind so that's the inspiration for my card for this post!

I began with a piece of Kraft cardstock about 3 by 4 (not precisely) and used my corner rounder to soften the edges. Then, using my Boho Blossoms punch and the Trio Flower punch and some whisper white cardstock scraps and punched a bunch of flowers and adhered those to the Kraft cardstock using the 2-Way Glue Pen. Then, I punched one of the flowers from the Boho Blossoms in Pink Passion and adhered that using a Stampin' Dimensional. (I used to never use these...now I use them all of the time...what was I waiting for? They are the best way to add interest to a card for a bargain of 300 for $3.95!)

I used the One of the Kind stamp set in Pink Passion ink to stamp the sentiment onto the Whisper White cardstock base and also rounded the corners of that same card base. To finish off, I used the 2-Way Glue Pen to add a little glue to each petal and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter....glitter is definitely another way to show someone that they are one of a kind!

Thanks for stopping by!

Details:
Stamp set: One of a Kind
Colors: Kraft, Whisper White, Pink Passion
Others: 2-Way Glue Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, 3/16" Corner Rounder, Boho Blossoms Punch, Trio Flowers Punch, SNAIL Adhesive

Thanks for taking a peek and be sure to see what the other participants did with this sketch! Also, play along! Just use the sketch and see how it inspires you!

Connect the Dots Sketch/Color Combo Sketch...

I consider myself a not-so-dumb kind of gal but when it comes to time zones and figuring out the times across the internet, I am still challenged! So, I think that my In the Bag post was too late for the contest which would make me too late to participate in the Color Challenge so I combined these two challenges from Papertrey, Inc.

The challenge involved colors carried by Papertrey but I, of course, changed them to Stampin' Up's exclusive colors: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive and Real Red.

The sketch was fun! The Connect the Dots challenge was to actually print up the sketch challenge but to literally connect the 18 dots to discover the sketch. The fun thing about any layout is that you can flip it and rotate it any way you want! You can see that I turned mine upside down!

Thanks for looking and have a GREAT weekend!

Details:
Set: Bugs & Kisses (on the dormant list meaning it's available for sale from me but not featured in the current Stampin' Up! Catalog.)
Cardstock and Ink colors: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White
Extras: Real Red narrow Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads, 1/2" circle punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive

It's in the Bag!

I love to win! I especially love to win FREE stamps... Now, you know that I am fairly faithful to my Stampin' Up! I've been a customer since 1996 and a demo since 2005. I think that my record speaks for itself. But, it doesn't hurt to try and win some free papercrafting items (even from another company.)

So, Papertrey Inc is having a contest for people to make a bag of any kind and win some of their product. I'd love to try some out so since all of my money goes to SU, I need to win from other companies!

I started with a mini paper bag. These are available at local craft stores. I decorated a piece of cardstock with this fab birthday set, Crazy for Cupcakes! Using black stazon, I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and then using my aquapainted used Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate chip Inks to paint the image. These colors coordinate with the Sweet Always DSP. I added "handles" using my Word Window punch. With some touches of ribbon and some extra stamping on the DSP, my bag was complete!

I think that this bag would be perfect to hold a little jewelry...I have a hostess coming up who deals with lots of jewelry so I think this little bag will be for her!

Thanks for looking!

Blogger's Challenge #85: Sketch Challenge

Yes! It was a challenge but that's the exact reason why I participate in these challenges! I need to stretch and grow in all aspects of life, including how I stamp! So, this challenge was a growing moment!

I like how this card turned out simple (again...sensing a theme in my life!) I did try a little fancy technique with some bleach. See those little highlights above the flower? That's the look you may get from overstamping using some regular household bleach. Each color and sometimes each piece of cardstock will produce it's own unique look!

Make sure to see what the other Blogger's Challenge girls are up to! You can play along too! Here's the sketch:
