Happy Anniversary!
Today my parents are celebrating 49 years together! It's fun to think of it as I've gotten to spend (almost) 38 of those years with them! We haven't gone to visit them this summer as we're going in October (combining my LEA teacher time with a couple of personal days.) We're really looking forward to seeing them and spending some time together!
Here's the card that we sent:
The layout is copied but I chose my own colors. I am so sorry that I didn't write down who I "borrowed" the ideas from....
Happy Saturday. We're off for our walk, then to clean and then this afternoon, going to a birthday celebration for a lady that is turning 80 on Monday. She and I share a birthday and have (since I've known her) loved sharing it and wishing each other birthday greetings!

Blogger's Challenge/Heart to Heart
I am using my blogger's challenge this week as a way to reach out to an Alzheimer's caregiver. Carolyn King issued a challenge for anyone to send a note of support with a homemade card to someone who is caring for an Alzheimer's patient. I thought of my friend and one of my teaching mentors from my first years of teaching so this card is for her husband and her family. She doesn't know who I am anymore but I won't forget what she taught me!
Carolyn is offering some AWESOME blog candy to motivate people to thank the caregivers. I should be doing it on my own and much more often!
Our challenge was to make a Warhol style card. These cards challenge me by having to measure and cut precisely! I have a hard time figuring out the measurements but I did it! (BTW, each section is 1 7/8" by 1 5/8", then layered onto a 5 1/2" by 4" layer and then onto a standard quarter fold card!)
Thanks for looking and see what Pop-Art has influenced our group this week!

Crookston, Minnesota Police Need Nationwide Help!
I know that the chances are slim to none that the witness that they are looking for will ever read this post but just in case, I'm still going to post it!
CROOKSTON POLICE ASKING FOR HELP IN LOCATING AN ACCIDENT WITNESS
The Crookston (Minnesota) Police Department is asking the public's assistance in identifying a possible witness of a September 12th semi-pedestrian fatal accident.
Police were notified that a man in a pickup truck told bystanders at the crash scene that he witnessed the accident. He did not leave a name or contact information. Police were told the man said he was driving from Ohio to Montana.
Around 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Robert Street in Crookston, a semi tractor was west bound on Robert Street (U.S. Highway 2) and was making a right hand turn from Robert Street onto Broadway Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing Broadway, west bound in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was Ramona Unke of Crookston, who died at the scene.
Anyone with any information about this witness or any other witnesses who saw the crash occur is asked to contact the Crookston Police Department at 218-281-3111.

Blogger's Challenge #65: Watercoloring!
Good day! Don't you just love this image from Under the Stars? I do!!! I did this one for a workshop a little earlier but since I haven't shared and that it's got watercoloring, I thought it was time to be seen!
I used the Marker Watercolor tech to complete this card. Of course, you can find this tech at Technique Junkies! Or, have a workshop or get together with me and I'll show you!
It's been a long week so I'm keeping it short. My church and community had a tragic loss this week with the death of an active member. Please keep her four children and her husband in your prayers. And, always tell the ones that you love that you love them!
Recipe:
Stamps sets: Under the Stars, Fundamental Phrases
Cardstock/Ink: Chocolate chip, Close to cocoa, naturals ivory
Other: Aquapainter, Scallop punch, stampin dimensionals, stampin sponges, various SU markers

Blogger's Challenge #64: Designer Series Paper
Our challenge this week was to incorporate or base our card on Designer Series Paper. I just LOVE this Hawaii Papaya paper. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew I would buy it! The colors in this paper collection are Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, and Kiwi Kiss.
I am also participating in a weekly challenge for my SSUS group (Sensational Stampin' Up! Stampers!) which also required DSP but also using a fancy fold and recent stamp sets. I've got it all here and then some...BUT if you are assigned to be my partner for SSUS, hide your eyes to keep the surprise cause this is your card!!!
The technique Flip, Flap, Fold was an online bonus technique for Technique Junkies. I only had done this type of card once before and knew I had another one!
The word FRIEND is from a hostess set called Punches Three. Of course, you notice my use of the Big Shot! I LOVE IT!!!! Click HERE to see the special that I am offering for the Big Shot. (This offer is not available through online shopping.) I used Styled Silver Hodgepodge hardware to finish the look.
Thanks for taking time to look and be sure to go and see what the other members were up to with this awesome challenge!!!

Color Inspiration #22
It's that time of the week when I participate in Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration. I just got my preorder from SU's Holiday Mini so of course, I had to use one of the new sets from that!
Here's the color inspiration:
And here's my contribution with the new set Season of Friendship. Isn't it a fun one? This is going to be a thank you for a wonderful gal who buys school supplies for my classroom each year! The Bravo Burgundy has that brown undertone so I thought it would make a perfect tree color and the rest came together rather quickly. I did use Baja Breeze in place of the Soft Sky. Thanks for looking!
Card Recipe:
Stamp Set: Season of Friendship
Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Baja Breeze
Ribbon: Bravo Burgundy
Other: StampaMajig, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sponge Daubers

Blogger's Challenge #63: Color Challenge
Okay, this is one "outta sight, groovy..." card!
I was first inspired by trying out the Starburst Technique, a Technique Junkies Tech. I've shared before about the creative, awesome resource that the Technique Junkie team is! (And I'm not just saying that for the girls on that team who are also BC members!) Whenever I need a creative lift, I go to www.patstamps.com and check out one of the over 350 techs that Pat has shared over the years. I've been a subscriber since 2003, I think!
Anyway, I did a couple Starburst tech cards for a contest submission and then when I checked out the colors for this week, well, the combination of that and the tie dye thing was just fun! The tech calls to use a brayer and a spectrum pad. I used the reinkers and a baby wipe to make my own spectrum pad. The colors for the challenge were: Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point.
Thanks for looking and go see what my fellow bloggers came up with...AND...if you come up with your own card or project for this challenge, let me know! I would love to see it!
Card Recipe:
Stamp sets: Big Deal Alphabet, Contempo Alphabet
Stamp Pad: Basic Black
Ink Refills: Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Pacific Point
Cardstock: Glossy White, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss
Other: Styled Silver Hodgepodge Kit, Twill Ribbon, Post-It Notes, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL
