Blogger's Challenge #197: Happy Birthday!

Our challenge this week was to use birthdays as our inspiration.  I always need a birthday card so that's what I did!

I started with the Springtime Vintage papers from the Occasions Mini.  I used the Lattice Impressions folder to add texture and layered it with a piece of Rose Red, a favorite of mine!  I distressed it with lots of Early Espresso ink.  I used the matching paper and the Fun Flower Bigz L Die to create a flower as my focal piece.  (Can you believe that at first, this die was a maybe on my wishlist?  I can't now!)  I added more depth by sponging the edges of each layer with Early espresso ink.  My card base is Crumb Cake (again!) and I stamped the sentiment from the Create a Cupcake stamp set to finish the card.

Be sure to check out the other players' work below and please play along and create a birthday themed project of your own!

I think the DSP looks fabulous with the embossing -- haven't tried that and will have to. I just ordered this flower die and can't wait to get it -- love the look you got with all that distressing!
