Blogger's Challenge #47: Layout challenge!

Welcome to the Blogger's Challenge this week. Our challenge was to be inspired by the layout on page 21 of the Occasions Mini (have I mentioned that they have extended this catty until June 30th? It's an awesome one to have a little longer!!!) Anywho...This is my take. I made mine a Father's Day card for my dad. I used Kraft cardstock (a favorite of mine!) Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Blue Bayou. I used the paper piercer and Mat kit to put the holes in and handstitched using the Linen Thread. The stamp sets are Lovely as a Tree and Short and Sweet.

***NOTE: All Stampin' Up! materials were used to make this card and no materials were harmed in the making of this card!

Blogger's Challenge #46: Mother's Day!

I am so glad that I had a back-up for the Blogger's Challenge this week. I made my cards on Sunday and filmed them. Then, sent them off to my mom, Steve's mom and Steve's grandma. Well, the last card was meant to be my challenge and here's the blurry cruddy picture:

I LIKED THE CARD BUT I'M EMBARASSED TO POST IT!

BUT...I have a back-up!! Here's the card I made for both my mom and Steve's mom. I like things fair so they got the very same design:

Here's another contribution. I forgot that I had made this one about a month ago and sent it in to SU for a contest entry.

Thanks for looking at my cards! Blessings to you and go and check out what the other Blogger's Challenge gals came up with...I know that I will!

Blogger's Challenge #45: Graduation

I am not afraid to share my age with you...I graduated from high school in 1989. I gave the salutatorian speech (don't be too impressed...I graduated with 23 in my class!!!) and thought we had the world in the palm of our hands. Life didn't turn out the exact way I thought but I am way happier this way! I surely didn't think at that time that the girl who almost failed art (yep, that's me! I got an F on the final project, though!) would be sharing art with you like this!!!

I knew graduations would be coming way too fast, so I began a few grad cards early! No special technique on this one but I think it's a great for a male grad!

Here's the recipe:
Stamp sets: Stamp of Authenticity, Great Grads
Cardstock/Ink Colors: Kraft, Very Vanilla, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip
Other: Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware, Stampin' Dimensionals

Blogger's Challenge #44: Color Challenge

I'm actually writing this post on Tuesday night and should actually be packing for the trip that I'll be on when you are actually reading this!

Our challenge was a color challenge this week using So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Brocade Blue and Chocolate chip. I used these colors although my picture is HORRIBLE and showing the blue as some sort of purple. If I weren't supposed to be packing, I'd not post this card and make a new one but....

I used versamark to adhere clear embossing powder a total of three times! To make the cross layer, I used a piece of watercolor paper, wet it down and added the saffron, blue and celery. Then, dried it with my heat tool and stamped the cross atop it.

Thanks for looking and I promise a better offering next week! Be sure to check out some real art and see what the others were up to!

Happy stamping!

Blogger's Challenge #43: Chipboard

Or, as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, we call it On Board! I used the flower from the On Board Blossoms to create a fun frame to hang...somewhere! I think it will work in my kitchen somewhere!

Some apologies: First, the picture is not so great! I should have framed it without the glass! Second, blogger's challenge is really supposed to be posted on Friday!!! My excuse was a good one. My MIL and FIL visited for just Friday night and have I mentioned that other than my husband, I have the BEST in-laws!!! My husband also has wonderful in-laws! We are so blessed! So, the four of us played our Wii until the wee hours! Tee hee!

Thanks for looking and click on the link to see the other challenge players. I'm going to check those out next!

Project recipe:
Stamps: Tart and Tangy
Markers: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, and Pumpkin Pie
Classic Ink: Bashful Blue
Designer Series Paper: Summer Picnic
Other: On Board Blossoms and Basics, Stampin' Dimensions, 1 3/8 inch circle punch

Blogger's Challenge #42: Triangle Box

Okay...I didn't make one triangle box. I made 11! Yum! Chocolate cake and ZERO calories!

I am NOT a cake decorator but I found inspiration from this cake.

I used a Stampin' Up pattern to make the boxes out of chocolate chip cardstock. Then, I used my Scallop and 3/4 inch circle punches to make the daisies. The leaves are the oval punches, folded and run through my crimper. The only stamping is not really visible...I used my Whisper White Craft Ink to add dots from Sweet Shapes stamp set.

My cake appears to "sink" in the middle but that's only because of the shape of the plate that I chose.

Thanks for looking and check out what other BC members did with this challenge!!!

Blogger's Challenge #41: Layout challenge!

Good Morning!

I know I am a day late for my BC...my apologies. I had an awesome fun workshop on Thursday night (hi girls!) and I didn't take time to stamp my BC before that so I was left to come up with it last night after school. Enough excuses...on with the challenge!!!

Our challenge was to use this layout on page 65 of the current Spring Summer Collection. After staring at the layout for a bit, Yappy Day on page 64 became my inspiration to come up with the challenge! I used Pumpkin Pie, Kraft and Whisper White as my color inspiration and found those colors in the both the Spring Break and Jersey Shore Designer Series papers. I embossed the saying and the bone and used the Paper Piecing to create my little dog! I used my Aquapainter and the lid for the Pumpkin Pie ink to make the embossing pop just a bit more. I added the Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain ribbon and two Fire Circle Rhinestone brads in orange.

Make sure to check out what the other BC members have to share this week! I'm off to look myself!!! Thanks for looking!

Shipping increase...

First, I'll start with a card! I sent this in for the last contest and I think it's safe to say, I didn't win. I loved this card. It uses two colors: Basic Gray and Whisper White.

I wanted to post that there will be a shipping increase on customer orders. The new shipping cost for all orders $69.95 or less will be $6.95. This is $3.00 more than before but I don't remember the cost being less than $3.95 so it's been a LONG time since an increase!!!!

The cruise earning demos have set sail to Bermuda and we are getting a few spoilers! We have heard that the new In Colors are:

Pacific Point, Baha Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Red Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette

Those new colors will become available in August...so we have until then to enjoy our current In colors!!!!!

Have a super night!

Blogger's Challenge #40: Spring Flowers!

Spring flowers usually make me think of bright, vivid colors but this card is more subdued. I used the SCS color challenge of Whisper White, Basic Gray, and Soft Sky to create this punched flowers card. I'm keeping this post really simple so thanks for looking!!!

Blogger's Challenge #39: Color challenge!

Our challenge this week was a color challenge to use Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Soft Sky. I had one card complete and decided to make another and I like that one much better!

The first one is a tall card. I found the layout in CardMaker's Sketchbook. I used my Trimtastic stamp set and my Stamp a Majig to put the rick-rack image on my background in Chocolate Chip ink. Then I used the jumbo wheel Dotted Lines to add more pattern and texure. The Real Red layer is a piece from the Prints Pack DSP from the hostess choices. I used our largest square punch (1 3/8 inch) to make a layered "diamond" with Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky cardstock. On the squares, I used the i and u from Jumbo Outline Alphabet and the heart from Sweet Shapes and filled those in with my blender pen.

The second card was even more fun for me! I began by adding the Polka Dot background stamp to the Soft Sky background. Since my Sweet Shapes set was still on the table, I used the dotted image to add a background on the chocolate chip layer. I added Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon and used my Great Grad set to finish it off!

Thanks for looking and many blessings to you on this Good Friday and Happy Easter!!!

Just wanted to let you know that Sale-A-Bration is coming to an end...soon! March 17th to be exact! I've attached a photo of some items I made with SAB items! I bought the red frame at Target for $1 but altered with the SU Rub-Ons "Love and Happiness" to make it worth much more than that! Also in the picture is a tree scene card made with another SAB set called "Lots of Thoughts." The rub-ons, the Lots of Thoughts set, or four other stamp sets are FREE with every $50* you purchase!!!

Here's the special offer: Place any size order with me on or before Saturday, March 15 and I will enter your name into a drawing for every $5* you spend. What will you win? I will be giving away a SAB set of your choice (make sure to tell me which one you would like when you order if you are chosen!) If I have enough orders to make it a workshop, I will draw a second time to give away a Level one hostess set!!! If the total goes over $300, I will give another SAB set away! If the order goes over $400, I will give away TWO Level one hostess sets!!! And remember, in addition to the drawing, for every $50 you spend, you can choose one of the SAB sets or the rub-on set!

I'm not sending out a snail mailing about this offer so please, tell everyone you know who would like to order but doesn't receive emails from me.

You can call me (218-281-1744 or 218-289-0025) with your order, drop if off with me OR email me (bohler@gra.midco.net ). All orders and payments need to be to me by Saturday, March 15th by 5:00 pm. I will put the order in as soon as I know what free sets the winners are choosing!

If you haven't seen this, you are missing out! That's where I purchased the stamps to make the third card in the attached picture! That set is called "Tart & Tangy!" Too cute!

I hope that everyone is doing well! And GO PIRATE GIRLS!!!!!

Stamper's Showcase!

Whoo hoo! I made stamper's showcase today! This layout was a blogger's challenge layout (number 31 to be exact!) I used Crystal effects to line the felt flower with glitter and after adding the glitter, added a second layer of CE to make it so the glitter won't flake off!

Blogger's Challenge #38: Happy Birthday!

Our challenge was to make a birthday card...that simple. By the way, our blogger's Challenge, Mom, Lisa Somerville, will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow...I thought it quite clever to have this as our challenge this week! Happy Birthday, Lisa!!! Be sure to check out all of the BC members but check out Lisa's blog especially cause she's having quite a birthday celebration!

On to my card....I began with Shimmery White cardstock, Wild Wasabi classic ink and the Dotted Lines Jumbo Wheel and using my wheel guide, went crazy with dots!! There are dots going in three different directions! Next, another piece of Shimmery White, Wild Wasabi classic ink, and my Birthday Whimsy stamp set (One of the SAB sets you can get for FREE!!!...did you see my special offer? Order by Saturday to take me up on the drawing!!!), I stamped the cake and then got my Crystal Effects out and went wild. First, I dotted the CE all over the background and then sprinkled some Celery chunky glitter and shook off the extra. Then, added a bit more CE onto the cake itself and set that aside to dry.

Now, the real fun! I took the Ribbon Slide from the Styled Silver HodgePodge kit (in new Occasions Mini!) and with a mixture of CE and Wild Wasabi ink refill, I colored in the ribbon slide! I allowed that to dry and added it to the WW Double-stitched ribbon. I put in all together onto a Wild Wasabi card base and ta-da! Another BC is complete!!!

Thanks for looking!!

Blogger's Challenge #37: Shaped Card!

I know that it's not Friday...but Friday is going to go WAY too fast so I'm posting on Thursday! It's been Lutheran Schools Week at school and everyday has been BUSY and FUN!!! Now, tomorrow night, our church is hosting a high school choir and band from Nebraska. Steve and I are having four (that's right, four!) high school boys staying the night with us following their concert. Since Steve is the pastor, we're also attending the dinner at 5:00 before the concert and then will be hosting til morning!

Anywho, here's my challenge offering! Our challenge was to make a shaped card, any shape, just not a rectangle. Easy! I went with a circle. When I decided that my Coluzzle wasn't quite as large as I wanted my card to be, I chose a bowl from the cupboard to trace. I then used my corner rounder (after removing the guard) to add the scallops. I did the top and the bottom of the card separately as the punch would only go through one layer at a time.

I used my Coluzzle to cut the white and black layers, though. Initially, I wasn't going to "scallop" these layers but after looking at the card and thinking something wasn't quite right, I added the scallops and was very pleased!

I stamped images from the Wanted stamp set on the River Rock scalloped card. I used my Signo White Gel Pen to follow a technique that fellow BC member, Anita Van Hal shared this past week called the Bandana tech. I also used the pen to add a little detail to the black layer.

Lisa Somerville used this color combo a couple of times in the past week and that was my inspiration for color. So, even members of the BC group use each other to be inspired!

Thanks for looking! I'm off to stamp a few cards that need to be ready with NO time to stamp this weekend!

Blogger's Challenge #36: Layout Challenge

Our challenge this week was to be inspired by the layout on page 44, The Deepest Sympathy card. Usually, layout challenges are my favorite but it was really hard for me this week. This is inspite of the fact that I really like this layout! Wierd!

I wanted to try out a very simple technique called "Chalkboard." You are supposed to use black cardstock and the example I saw used brown. So what did I do? Used Bravo Burgundy! I stamped the cross and floral images from Refuge and Strength in Whisper White Craft Ink and used Q-tips and cotton balls to add color from my Stampin' Pastels. I layered this piece onto Ballet Blue and then onto Always Artichoke cardstock. I tied a piece of 5/8" Brocade Blue Grosgrain Ribbon onto the Antique Brass Hodgepodge piece and attached that to my main piece. I wasn't quite sure if this looked finished yet so at the risk of ruining what I had just done, I pulled out my Crafter's Tool Kit and using the Paper Piercer, Pad and Template, added a few "stitch" holes in three of the corners. I liked it!

I made my own decorative cardstock by stamping off in Ballet Blue and Bravo Burgundy onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I added the phrase with my Bravo Burgundy classic ink pad and adhered the focal image with Stampin' Dimensionals. Boy! I've been using Stampin' Dimensionals on EVERYTHING lately! I love them!

Thanks for taking time to check out my Blogger's Challenge and remember to click on the link on the sidebar to see what the other BC members were up to this week!

Blogger's Challenge #35: Color Challenge!

The color combo for this challenge was Purely Pomegranete, Old Olive and Brilliant Blue...Whoa! That IS a challenge. But, once I sat down, my card came together quite quickly!

I used a set called Bugs and Kisses...I LOVE this set! I stamped three of the bugs in the three colors and punched them out with my 1 1/4 inch square punch, added a little ink around the edges with a sponge dauber and layered them on their respective cardstock colors and punched that out with the 1 3/8 inch square punch. I made a "faux filmstrip" from Brilliant Blue by punching the edge with my Spiral punch. On the background, I used the phrase Cute as a Bug in Old Olive on the Old Olive card and positioned it with my Stamp a Majig. My intent was to do the whole background but I stopped and decided I liked this "strip" look! I added Olive 5/8" ribbon and Double Stitched Purely Pomegranete ribbon and finished off the card by stamping the phrase just one more time with Basic Black. My Brilliant Blue is showing up a little purple. Maybe I can try to take a better pic later today!

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out the link to the other challenges!

Also, Sale a Bration continues! Did you get your Mini Occasions catty from me, yet? IT'S AWESOME!!! Starts March 1st!

Your Word is a Light...

I made this card for my friend Lisa S. She's also my upline. God really guided me in the right direction for that decision! I signed up with Lisa...we had never met, just emailed back and forth. She had to be patient, too! I drug her along from March til I finally signed up in August!!!

This card uses the Brayered Sky tech from SCS. Block off a portion of your cardstock with post its and use a brayer with three shades of one color. I chose Barely Banana, Summer Sun and More Mustard. I also used my Christmas present from Lisa...A Light Unto My Path I removed the post its and stamped the Bible verse. Thanks for looking!

Blogger's Challenge #34: Layout Challenge!

LOVED this challenge! Layout challenges usually end up being a favorite for me!

We were to use the Happy Birthday card on page 32 of the Spring-Summer Collection from Stampin' Up!

My color combo came from a color challenge on SCS. The stamp set I finally decided on (that was the real challenge for me, this week) was Nursery Necessities. I used Kraft, Tempting Turquoise, and Green Galore, colors I wouldn't have thought to put together but I like how they work together. For my star, I used the Rock N Roll technique and used regular White Grosgrain Ribbon and added a little extra to match my card! To make the scallops, I used the corner rounder punch with the guard removed and added white dots with my Uni-Ball Signo White Gel Pen. I stamped the phrase with White Embossing powder.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today, this is the card that I am giving to my dh. I found the pattern on one of the other blogs I read. Email me if you want me to send you the pattern, too!

I used Blush Blossom cardstock and Bali Breeze DSP and River Rock double-stitched ribbon.

Just So You Know

I had a great question at my workshop the other night...Do I need to wait for a workshop or party or open house to place an order?

You can place an order ANYTIME!

Here's the scoop: You can place a Customer Direct Order at any time from me. The only difference is shipping. Shipping is $3.95 for all orders less than $39.50. After that amount, the shipping charge is the same as it is for a workshop: 10%!

So, all of you who are considering a SAB (Sale-a-Bration) order and don't want to wait for a workshop, I can take your individual orders anytime!

But, if you talk to your friends and get the total above $150, it will count as a workshop and you would get HOSTESS BENNIES!!!

So contact me anytime with your orders and I'll be glad to take care of it for you!

Thanks for looking!

Blogger's Challenge #33: Color Challenge!

Our challenge this week was to use the color combination of Taken With Teal, Rose Red, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. It wasnt' until this morning that it dawned on me that this was almost the same colors I used for a project for my workshop last night! I used Purely Pomegranete on that one and simply switched our Rose Red cardstock in its place! I "CASED" the idea from Heather Summers. Here's a link to her original project. I think you'll see the similarities!

I used Bali Breeze DSP. This piece has all four colors. The old olive is just on the paper but I used the other three colors when I added elements. The DSP actually has Purely Pomegranete but Rose Red looks GREAT, too!!!

I started my CD case with a piece of 10 by 6 inch dsp. I scored the long way at 1/2" and then folded it in half. From the middle fold mark to the end, I cut away a portion of the scored piece and left the other half to add the adhesive.

The stamp sets used were Short and Sweet and All in the Family. I had to use my StampaMajig to get the placement of the girls head as you can mix and match the people in this stamp set. I used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and my Aquapainter to add color before punching it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch. I layered that onto P Pie cardstock and punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I layered yet again onto Taken with Teal Cardstock and used my (new) scallop punch. The message is punched with our two sizes of Oval punches. The last bit of punching came when I used the circle punch to make a place to pull the CD out of the envelope.

This would be a GREAT project for making a mix CD for your Valentine or putting a group of digital photos for a loved one!

Thanks for looking!
