Blogger's Challenge #86: Valentine's Day!

"Valen-times" as my dh and I like to say after seeing that on some tv show. I don't have a traditional Valentine's project but it's one that fits my Valentine!

I've mentioned before that Steve wants to be a cowboy or at least dress like one and see every western movie ever made. Well, I used a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit called Round-Up to come up with a little cowboy treat for the cowboy in my life.

Squash books have been around for a little while but this is the first one that I have ever made. I completed it from beginning to end in just a couple of hours (which was easy because of the Simply Scrappin' Kit...must get more of these in my hot little hands and I'll be a GREAT scrapbooker yet!) Putting the whole idea together is fairly easy! I'd be happy to have a workshop or class with you and your friends and show you how to make one!

I tried to get a picture of each element of this book so I hope you can see. I have included one picture of Steve before I met him....where did all of that gray in his beard come from? He blames me!

Thanks for looking and I'm sure you'll see some more traditional ideas of Valentine's by checking out the blogs of the other Blogger's Challenge members!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!!

Challenge happy....

I haven't posted this much EVER! I am definitely challenge-happy, meaning I've been participating in lots of challenges lately. I've got a busy Feb. and Mar. thanks to Sale-a-bration so I'm stamping lots instead of other activities!

This time the challenge from Papertrey was to create a card for a best friend! When I think of a best friend, I think that they are One of a Kind so that's the inspiration for my card for this post!

I began with a piece of Kraft cardstock about 3 by 4 (not precisely) and used my corner rounder to soften the edges. Then, using my Boho Blossoms punch and the Trio Flower punch and some whisper white cardstock scraps and punched a bunch of flowers and adhered those to the Kraft cardstock using the 2-Way Glue Pen. Then, I punched one of the flowers from the Boho Blossoms in Pink Passion and adhered that using a Stampin' Dimensional. (I used to never use these...now I use them all of the time...what was I waiting for? They are the best way to add interest to a card for a bargain of 300 for $3.95!)

I used the One of the Kind stamp set in Pink Passion ink to stamp the sentiment onto the Whisper White cardstock base and also rounded the corners of that same card base. To finish off, I used the 2-Way Glue Pen to add a little glue to each petal and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter....glitter is definitely another way to show someone that they are one of a kind!

Thanks for stopping by!

Details:
Stamp set: One of a Kind
Colors: Kraft, Whisper White, Pink Passion
Others: 2-Way Glue Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, 3/16" Corner Rounder, Boho Blossoms Punch, Trio Flowers Punch, SNAIL Adhesive

Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch #56

Fellow Blogger's Challenge member, Mary Jo, has a weekly challenge called "Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch" each week. I've wanted to participate for a long time and finally made the time to do one really quickly tonight...Sunday night...not really lunchtime but the sketch was posted so....

I used the new set Just Buzzin' By! LOVE this set! I stamped the hive onto shimmery white cardstock...Awesome for watercoloring. I used my Aquapainter and the Watercolor Wonder Crayons...need to use those more...they are such a bargain of a tool for getting GREAT color!

Thanks for taking a peek and be sure to see what the other participants did with this sketch! Also, play along! Just use the sketch and see how it inspires you!

Connect the Dots Sketch/Color Combo Sketch...

I consider myself a not-so-dumb kind of gal but when it comes to time zones and figuring out the times across the internet, I am still challenged! So, I think that my In the Bag post was too late for the contest which would make me too late to participate in the Color Challenge so I combined these two challenges from Papertrey, Inc.

The challenge involved colors carried by Papertrey but I, of course, changed them to Stampin' Up's exclusive colors: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive and Real Red.

The sketch was fun! The Connect the Dots challenge was to actually print up the sketch challenge but to literally connect the 18 dots to discover the sketch. The fun thing about any layout is that you can flip it and rotate it any way you want! You can see that I turned mine upside down!

Thanks for looking and have a GREAT weekend!

Details:
Set: Bugs & Kisses (on the dormant list meaning it's available for sale from me but not featured in the current Stampin' Up! Catalog.)
Cardstock and Ink colors: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White
Extras: Real Red narrow Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads, 1/2" circle punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive

It's in the Bag!

I love to win! I especially love to win FREE stamps... Now, you know that I am fairly faithful to my Stampin' Up! I've been a customer since 1996 and a demo since 2005. I think that my record speaks for itself. But, it doesn't hurt to try and win some free papercrafting items (even from another company.)

So, Papertrey Inc is having a contest for people to make a bag of any kind and win some of their product. I'd love to try some out so since all of my money goes to SU, I need to win from other companies!

I started with a mini paper bag. These are available at local craft stores. I decorated a piece of cardstock with this fab birthday set, Crazy for Cupcakes! Using black stazon, I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and then using my aquapainted used Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate chip Inks to paint the image. These colors coordinate with the Sweet Always DSP. I added "handles" using my Word Window punch. With some touches of ribbon and some extra stamping on the DSP, my bag was complete!

I think that this bag would be perfect to hold a little jewelry...I have a hostess coming up who deals with lots of jewelry so I think this little bag will be for her!

Thanks for looking!

Blogger's Challenge #85: Sketch Challenge

Yes! It was a challenge but that's the exact reason why I participate in these challenges! I need to stretch and grow in all aspects of life, including how I stamp! So, this challenge was a growing moment!

I like how this card turned out simple (again...sensing a theme in my life!) I did try a little fancy technique with some bleach. See those little highlights above the flower? That's the look you may get from overstamping using some regular household bleach. Each color and sometimes each piece of cardstock will produce it's own unique look!

Make sure to see what the other Blogger's Challenge girls are up to! You can play along too! Here's the sketch:

Blogger's Challenge #84: They Say it's Your Birthday!

Yesterday was Tom Selleck's birthday. He turned 64 years old...why do I care? Well, he was my first crush and the first poster of a "boy" that I hung in my bedroom back in the 80s. Some dates stick in my head and never leave and that happens to be one of them! Happy Birthday Tom!

It also happens to be that our challenge was birthdays for Blogger's Challenge! I kept it simple and quick! The Big Shot helped me look like I made a fancier card than I really did! I began with the Kraft card base. I added a strip of DSP from the Candy Lane collection. I then stamped the scallop circle die cut with the butterfly from Priceless and the Happy Birthday from the More Thoughts Simply Stampin Kit. After adhering the scallop to the card base, I added the flourishes from Priceless and after a touch of ribbon, my card was complete!

Be sure to see what the other BC members were up to this week! That's what I'll be doing in my spare time in the next couple of days!

Hugs!

Winners!!!

***Edited to add: I caught my mistake. I had put an apostrophe in winners in my title. I cannot believe I did that. My second graders would be so disappointed in me!!!!! Plural: Just add an s. Possessive: add an apostrophe then an s.

I have the door prize winners from last night's open house.
Congrats to :

Cindy F.
Mary Ann A.
and Carmen B.

Thanks to all who came or were able to visit. I'll be putting the order in right away on February 1st so if there's still something you would like, contact me right away!!

My blogger's Challenge post will be posted after school sometime!!!

Color Inspiration #39

I get to post my Color Inspiration card thanks to bitterly cold winds and school being called two hours late. I was already up and ready to exercise so I figured I might as well stay awake and accomplish a few thing and then exercise! To see what others have posted for Kristina's color combo, click HERE.

I've got a funky card for you today! I actually am casing one of my own cards that was inspired by this purse that my friend had in church last year. I kept glancing at it and was heavenly inspired, I guess!

I got the Green Galore in there with the Dotted Lines jumbo wheel! I'm so happy to see that in the catty. It's a favorite! A rare thing for me is to use retired papers but since I had some Real Red and So Saffron DSPs from the previous hostess packs, I thought I would put them to use instead of letting them sit there. I paper pieced them onto the birds that I stamped over the lines. The flowers just have a touch of green on the leaves and saffron on the center of the flowers.

I finished it off with some Real Red ribbon and the some punched double hearts using the Heart to Heart punch. I added the word LOVE by using my Big Shot and the Naturally Serif die...you get a double alphabet all on one die for just $19.95...that's a value!

Blogger's Challenge #83: Color Challenge!

OOOH! This was a FUN one! LOVE black and white and red and Lisa topped it off with a touch of Kiwi! So I used: Basic Black, Real Red, and Kiwi Kiss on a Whisper White base.

I'm so happy that the stamp set "Just B" is off the dormant list and back in the catalog! I combined it with a new set, "Petal Pizzazz". I'm off and running to the next item on my list so I'm keeping my post SHORT! But...be sure to see what the other BC members provided as inspiration this week!

Hugs!

In just a few hours....

1:00 pm CST to be exact, the new Spring/Summer Catalog will go LIVE!!!! It'll be nuts for awhile as EVERYONE is telling their customers when it goes live but it's worth the wait!!! There are SO many new things plus the stamps that Creating Keepsakes rated number one overwhelmingly!

My New Catty Kick-Off Party will be on January 29 (Tom Selleck's birthday! I've had a little crush on Tom since the third grade!)I'll be working on invites for that today but if you are reading this and want to place an order as apart of that night, just let me know!!!

Happy Monday to you!

Color Inspiration #38: Take two!

I had these colors on my brain and when I looked at the middle card on Kristina's site, I knew I needed to use those colors and CASE her layout.

I turned the layout on the side and changed where I put the focal image since I made the card a 4 1/4' square.

I used the stamp set "Party Hearty" and the DSP Sweet Always. These are available in the upcoming catalog but lots of stamps and accessories are NOT...The last day to order from the Fall/Winter catty is January 18th! Don't wait...some accessories are already gone!

Thanks for looking and have a GREAT weekend!

The Triple Header: BC meets Color Inspiration meets SCS Color Challenge!

What? Yes, I met three challenges with this post...okay, it's two cards but that was the Blogger's Challenge: Same but Different! Plus, I managed to use another set that will be in the NEW Spring Summer 2009 Stampin' Up Catalog that begins this weekend!!! It's called Petal Pizzazz!

I began with the color challenge from SCS (SplitCoastStampers.) Those colors were: Not Quite Navy, Kraft and Baja Breeze. I snuck in the white on my own!

Then, I used a similiar layout for Kristina's Color Inspiration:

By completing both of those challenges, I did two cards; the same but different thereby completing the Blogger's Challenge!

Be sure to see what the other BC members did!
